Vancouver First Aid offers the widest range of training courses and stand-alone classes to choose from. All classes are offered at various schedules throughout the week, with certain classes available on the weekends. For trainees with scheduling problems, private classes are also available. Big groups and companies usually take private classes for a separate class and training schedule.
CPR training courses
The CPR training courses use the 2010 Basic Life Support (BLS) guidelines set by the American Heart Association in guiding rescuers providing compressions and defibrillation to victims of cardiac arrest. Because of the recent updates in techniques and pathways, Vancouver First Aid assures its trainees of only the latest information in first aid, CPR, and AED training.
Basic first aid classes are available as stand-alone classes for trainees who do not want to take the entire training course. The classes cover different first aid skills in managing injuries, such as bandaging, controlling bleeding injuries, and even pet first aid. One of the newest stand-alone classes offered at Vancouver First Aid is food safety classes.
One of the topics stressed during food safety classes is hand washing. Watch the following video to get a head start on your food safety training.
Workplace approved certification
All training courses and classes are taught by workplace approved certified instructors so you’re sure to get the best training. Because the courses are overseen by the workplace approved, trainees who are able to complete a course will be awarded a certificate for first aid, CPR, and AED, valid for three years throughout Canada.
Expiring or near-expiry certificates may be renewed through refresher courses, offered at least twice a week at each training facility located in Surrey and Vancouver. Only the following courses are available for re-certification with this provider:
- Standard first aid and CPR level “A”, “C” or “HCP” – 84.99
- Stand-alone CPR level “HCP” – 49.99

Dangers of diabetes in children
Type 2 diabetes is most common in adults but type 1 diabetes typically manifests in children. Because type 1 diabetes is commonly a genetic problem or due to an infection affecting the pancreas, the body doesn’t produce any insulin at all. Without insulin, there is constantly a high level of sugar in the blood. The symptoms of diabetes type 1 often appear in children as the child becomes ready to enter school. Hyperglycemia is very dangerous, with the following symptoms: frequent urination (polyuria), increased thirst, dry mouth, fatigue, nausea, and blurred vision.
