    Accidental alcohol intake by children

Any accidental intake of alcohol by children merits a trip to the emergency room. Alcohol affects children differently, and a small amount can cause alcohol intoxication. Children will experience vomiting – and possible choking and respiratory problems. Alcohol also causes hypoglycemia or low levels of blood sugar in children. Since the liver in children is immature, it can produce adequate amounts of glucose. This is very dangerous and can cause seizures and even death.
