Registration

Rates and fees

Nanaimo First Aid offers the cheapest course rates in the city. The rates are inclusive of all fees – taxes, certification, and workplace approved training manuals. These are all paid in full during enrolment so students don’t have to worry about additional expenses and tuition while training.

Students who drop out are entitled to a full refund as long as a 72-hour notice was given beforehand.

Certificates

Certificate cards are awarded to students who are able to finish and pass their enrolled program. Students can also request wall-mount sized certificates. Certificates are valid for three years but can be renewed. All certificates from Nanaimo First Aid are all from St Mark James.

To pass, a students needs to have at least 75 percent on the written exam, good demonstration of skills, and complete attendance.

Recertification

Recertification programs are held at least twice a week. Recertification is 8-9 hours long but may not be recognized by other provincial legislations which will require you to retake the entire childcare first are course.

Childcare First Aid

The childcare first aid program at Nanaimo First Aid is taken over the course of two days. Class hours amount to 16-20 hours, and focus on childhood injuries and illnesses for children, toddlers, and infants. This course curriculum involves basic first aid topics such as the emergency medical services (EMS) system, wound care, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED). Injuries such as bone, muscle, joint, head, and spine injuries are core topics as well.
